How Do I Become a Christian?
We were created to live for God supremely, but instead we live for love, work, achievement or morality to give us meaning and worth. Thus every person, religious or irreligious is worshipping something to get our worth. But these things enslave us with guilt (if we fail to attain them) or anger (if someone blocks them from us) or fear (if they are threatened) or drivenness (since we must have them). Sin is worshipping anything but J
esus – and the Holy Scriptures tell us that sin not only enslaves but ultimately leads to death.
As a fish is only free in water, we are only free when serving Jesus supremely. For he is the only source of meaning that we cannot lose (freeing us from fear and anger) and that is a free gift (freeing us from guilt and drivenness). In Matt.11:28-30, we read, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” His “yoke” is the only one that does not enslave.
If you have felt God speaking to your heart or are interested in how you can be made truly free, we invite you to talk to us about any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact The Rev. Castillo at
